SBS Unveils Ultra Small Form Factor CPU Modules Based on Latest Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx Series
Moscone Center West, San Francisco, CA, September 13, 2010: Today at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF), SBS Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (SBS) launched a series of ultra small form factor CPU modules including the COM1900, COMe9420 and the STM9220, which are all powered by the latest Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series (frequency 600MHz - 1.6GHz).
Inheriting the high performance and platform flexibility of the Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series, these CPU modules have a better integration capacity, up to 60 percent better graphics performance, and support dual independent display. Clearly, they are a vast improvement from modules based on the previous generation Intel® Atom™ processor Z5xx series. These modules also feature virtualization (VTx) technology, and integrate CAN-bus, I2C, SPI, SDIO, SATA, Gigabit Ethernet, video input, UART and USB. PCI Express extension capacity is also greatly improved.
These newly-launched modules also feature an ultra small form factor, ultra low-power consumption, a rugged design and various bus extensions. They support multiple operating systems, including MeeGo, Linux, and Windows. The diversified functions and form factors of these modules are fully capable of satisfying the specific requirements of different applications. Higher performance and reliability make these modules the ideal choice for new generation IVI and rail transit embedded system platforms.
With respective dimensions of 68mm x 62mm and 84mm x 55mm, both the COMe9420 and the STM9220, are ultra small in size and target IVI, rail transit, and hand-held devices. The COM1900, with dimensions of 85mm x120mm and excellent functional extension targets the rail transit sector and industrial automation.
Zhao Yong, General Manager of SBS Science & Technology Co., Ltd. said, “SBS is engaged in design and manufacturing of highly reliable embedded computers. Ever since 1992, SBS has been focusing on in-vehicle computers and has maintained its leading edge in the Chinese market. SBS maintains close cooperation with Intel and these three modules launched today are among the world’s first products that are based on the latest Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series. SBS will continue to advance its cooperation with Intel to provide high-quality products and professional service to OEM customers in the IVI field.”

Mason Zeng, Director of Embedded Sales and Marketing Group, Intel PRC, said, “We would like to congratulate SBS on the successful launch of its three CPU modules that are based on the latest Intel® Atom™ processor. We are thrilled to see our Chinese ecosystem partner among the first companies to bring it to the market and to introduce the most cutting-edge embedded technology to China. The Atom processor E6xx series features an unprecedented level of I/O flexibility, improved graphics performance and better PCI Express extension capability, satisfying the specific requirements of the embedded applications with SBS products, including in-vehicle infotainment systems, products in the rail transit sector and industry automation.”
